Referencing

As with all other resources, it is important that you acknowledge that you have used generative AI tools in producing your work.

Referencing styles have produced some initial guidelines on how to reference generative AI outputs, but they are subject to change as things evole.

Harvard (Cite Them Right): Advises referencing ChatGPT as if it was personal communications. For sources where the generative AI material is available online, it should be cited as an electronic version of a source. Please refer to the Harvard (Cite Them Right) page for the latest guidance.

APA (7th edition): If the AI’s end product (for example use of ChatGPT in conversation) is only available to you, cite this as a software program’s (or algorithm’s) output. Please refer to the APA (7th) page for the latest guidance.

OSCOLA: If the AI’s end product (for example use of ChatGPT in conversation) is only available to you, cite this as a software program’s (or algorithm’s) output. Please refer to the OSCOLA page for the latest guidance.
