Specialised software is available in Assistive Technology Rooms (ATRs) on referral from the Disability and Dyslexia Team.
Each PC has different software installed on it. We have listed what software is available on each PC on a sign next to the PC in the ATR and in the following list.
You can access the software from the desktop shortcut, the program menu, or the Windows search box.
About: A screen reader that converts on screen text, scanned text and documents to voice. Helps with writing by suggesting words as you type. The ClaroRead toolbar integrates with Dragon to allow you to use Dragon through one integrated toolbar. Allows you to change the screen colours, fonts and text sizes to make it easier to read.

About: A voice recognition application to transcribe your spoken words into written text. You can also control the PC using your voice. The software may be useful for students with RSI, permanent or temporary mobility difficulties, visual impairment, dyslexia and specific learning differences. Integrates with the ClaroRead toolbar.

About: combines ZoomText with screen magnification and visual enhancements with Jaws for screen reading. You can choose to run Jaws and ZoomText individually or together as Fusion.
ZoomText lets you change screen colours and magnification levels, customise the mouse pointer and text cursor, and turn on a focus rectangle to help you track where you are on screen.
Jaws is a screen reader that converts text to synthesised speech output allowing users to listen to all applications and content on the computer.
