Filter bubbles occur when search engines and social media platforms store your searches (as well as a huge amount of other information about you!) to create an algorithm that personalises your experience, and therefore your results will tend to reflect and reinforce your opinions and beliefs. 

This will inevitably mean that any results you get may be missing a vital viewpoint or angle that you need to consider in a balanced piece of work. 

To avoid becoming trapped in an information filter bubble, ensure you use a wide variety of sources for your research, primarily relying on academic databases and peer review journal articles.
